This pretty liver chestnut Thoroughbred mare is being held at the New Holland Auction in PA. She is owned by a killbuyer and has until noon tomorrow to be saved or she will be on a truck headed to a mexican slaughter house.

The pictures don’t really capture how gorgeous this mare is. The volunteers have also noted her sweet disposition.

Went on a trail ride yesterday with my sister on Nifty (front) and my good friend, Deb, on her horse Bux.

Just a few minutes after this photo was taken, we went over a small ditch, where Bux got excited and threw a very large buck. Deb went flying and hit the ground hard on her back and shoulder. She’s 62, and was hurting so bad she couldn’t move, so I had to call 911 and get an ambulance out there.

Since we were in the middle of a field, I had to jump on Nifty (he’s small and I can get on him without a mounting block, where Prince is too tall xP), and gallop him out of the pasture and down two different roads, where I waited for the rescue crew and had to lead them to Deb.

They got her loaded up and taken to the hospital. Did a catscan which came back clear, but an x-ray confirmed that she had a cracked rib. Definitely LUCKY, as it could have been a lot worse. 

So now she is home and on bed rest, icing the cracked rib, and I am going back and forth to her house helping her out. I feel so bad. Just before it happened, I said “I sure hope naming him Bux isn’t a jinx!” - Well, I must’ve jinxed the jinx.
